A CHAT WITH OBANIKORO

Veteran politician, diplomat, and former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, joins Seun Okinbaloye for a wide-ranging conversation on Nigeria's political landscape, security challenges, and the road to the 2027 general elections. Drawing from decades of experience in public service, Obanikoro reflects on his political journey, shares lessons from working closely with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and explains why he believes the administration's economic reforms, though difficult, are necessary for Nigeria's long-term stability. He also weighs in on the country's worsening insecurity, advocating a tougher approach that includes the possible deployment of mercenaries to combat terrorism. The discussion also examines the 2027 elections, Lagos politics, the state of the opposition, and why Obanikoro believes the APC remains well-positioned to retain power at both the state and national levels.
