Breaking the Silence

What would you do if a serial killer put a gun to your little sister’s head?Eleven-year-old Kristine didn't have time to think. In that terrifying moment, on a sunny afternoon that should have been safe, she made a choice. She figured out Christopher Wilder—the man who would become one of America’s most notorious killers—and she used that knowledge to keep her ten-year-old sister alive through hours of unimaginable horror. This is her truly remarkable story, told in her own voice. For decades, Kristine carried the weight of that day alone. The system failed her. People looked away. But she never let that day define her. Instead, she turned her pain into a lifeline for other women, founding a non-profit to ensure no one has to survive in silence. Her courage isn’t just about surviving a monster; it’s about refusing to let that monster win, even forty years later. This episode is more than a crime story. It’s a testament to a sister’s love, a child’s astonishing bravery, and a woman’s unbreakable spirit. If you’ve ever needed to believe that light can grow from the darkest places, listen. Kristine’s voice will stay with you long after the episode ends.Yesterday Today Tomorrow Women is dedicated to advancing women’s mental health and social wellbeing.
