About this track

Dr. Umar Johnson’s recent interview on The Art of Dialogue reveals a major shift in how he views the relationship between Black Americans, African immigrants, and Caribbean immigrants. While discussing the fallout from the recent Netflix celebrity roast of Kevin Hart, Dr. Umar stated that Black people in the West are effectively living in a modern Jim Crow era. More importantly, he issued a direct challenge to African and Caribbean immigrant communities, telling them they need to "pick a side" and let Black Americans know if they are truly on code. This marks a significant moment because Dr. Umar has historically pushed back against delineation movements like FBA and ADOS. Yet, by calling out these communities and demanding they show their alignment, he is inadvertently admitting that the core arguments behind delineation are right. The reality is that flat Blackness doesn't work when different groups have completely different histories, incentives, and cultural contexts. The fundamental flaw with traditional Pan-African thought leaders is that they demand solidarity without building an integration layer. You cannot expect a immigrant from Ghana or Nigeria to automatically understand or step on code with a struggle they have never personally experienced—especially when there is no tangible, mutual value being built between the groups. Solidarity cannot just be a one-way street when a crisis hits; it requires active, daily integration and an understanding of what both sides bring to the table. Until the diaspora addresses the elephant in the room regarding differing incentives and lack of real collaboration, the divide will continue to look like polite separation until the next cultural festival. #PanAfricanism #DrUmar #TariqNasheed #FBA #ADOS #Diaspora #Kenganda #BlackAmerica #DiasporaRelations Subscribe to Kenganda and become part of a community that celebrates African Americans and the African diaspora🌍✨ CONNECT WITH US https://www.instagram.com/kengandanation/ https://www.facebook.com/kengandanation/ htt
