Earth's Core Just Started Spinning Backwards

Earth’s inner core started doing something strange. Want to restore the planet’s ecosystems and see your impact in monthly videos? But scientists have noticed something strange in their measurements of seismic waves from earthquakes and nuclear tests. Earth’s inner core appeared to stop spinning. Even stranger, it started spinning backwards relative to the mantle. What’s going on at the heart of our planet? And what does it mean for us on the surface? To clarify for those asking: The 'reversal' discussed in recent papers refers to the core's rotation speed relative to the mantle, creating an apparent backward motion - like a car passing a bus. ▀▀▀▀▀▀ 0:00 Journey to the Centre of the Earth 4:03 Earth’s Missing Mass 6:09 Measuring Earthquakes 12:33 Cold War Discovery 17:16 Earthquake Doublets 19:03 70-Year Cycle 21:43 How It Affects Us ▀▀▀▀▀▀ Subscribe to the channel! https://youtube.com/@AstrumEarth Support our Patreon and you’ll get early access to Astrum Earth content, before anyone else: https://bit.ly/4aiJZNF ▀▀▀▀▀▀ Check out the other Astrum channels for videos about space and astronomy: Astrum: https://www.youtube.com/@astrumspace Astrum Extra: https://www.youtube.com/@astrumextra Astrum Podcast on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6jPRrbq3o3dpvBb173ZTKi?si=a90d3efe3b704c83 Astrum Infographic Artwork: https://electrify.art/collections/astrum Astrum Displate Posters: https://astrumspace.info/Displates Astrum Merch: https://astrum-shop.fourthwall.com/ Join us on the Astrum discord: https://discord.gg/TKw8Hpvtv8 ▀▀▀▀▀▀ References: “Earth’s inner core may have reversed its rotation”, via sciencenews.or
