About this track

The Financial Literacy Challenge 2026 was a practical and experiential learning initiative designed specifically for high school students. The programme sought to equip students with essential financial literacy, planning, and decision-making skills as they prepare for higher education and life beyond school. The challenge was built on a simple but important truth: success at university does not begin at admission — it begins with early planning, disciplined financial habits, and informed decision-making while students are still in school. Many students aspire to pursue higher education but often lack a clear understanding of: * The financial requirements of university education * The planning needed to prepare adequately * The discipline required to sustain the journey The Financial Literacy Challenge bridged this gap by helping students connect their academic aspirations with real-world financial strategies, preparing them not only for university entry but also for lifelong financial responsibility. OBJECTIVES The challenge aimed to: * Build financial literacy and awareness among high school students * Help students understand the real cost of higher education * Develop budgeting, planning, and decision-making skills * Encourage early financial responsibility and independence * Inspire creative thinking around funding education * Promote goal setting and long-term financial planning Instill a mindset of discipline, sacrifice, and strategic thinking Participating schools included: * West Africa Senior High School * Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School – Legon * Apam Senior High School Here is the presentation by Presbyterian Boys School - Legon. The challenge was powered by the Centre for Financial Literacy Education Africa and supported by the Ghana Association of Banks, KPMG Ghana, SAGE Ghana, Joy Prime, Joy News, The Sikaman Times, Seventeen Multimedia, and The Financial Awareness Foundation. #FinancialLiteracyChallenge #CFLEAfrica #HighSchools
