If you keep going back to the same sin, the same habit or the same old comfort, this devotional shows you why it happens and how God breaks the cycle. First, the pull is real, but it is not your master. Israel remembered the fish of Egypt and forgot the whips, but your old self was crucified with Christ, sin no longer has dominion over you, and God places a way of escape inside every temptation (Romans 7:19, Hebrews 4:15, Numbers 11:5, Numbers 14:4, Romans 6:6, Romans 6:14, 1 Corinthians 10:13). Second, God changes what your heart returns to. Jacob wrestled until the breaking of day and walked away with a limp and a new name (2 Corinthians 5:17, Genesis 32:28, Ezekiel 36:26, Philippians 2:13). Finally, the moment that matters most is the minute after you slip. When Peter went back to fishing, Jesus met him on the shore with a fire of coals and a fresh commission, and you will receive one sentence to speak at that very door (John 21:3, Micah 7:8, Proverbs 24:16, Jude 1:24). Stay to the end for a blessed prayer over the thing you keep going back to, your family, your finances, your healing and your breakthrough, in the mighty name of Jesus. This is a prayer of faith offered as spiritual encouragement. If you are struggling with a dependency or with your mental health, please also speak to your doctor or a counsbelor you trust. Prayer and care belong together. 🙏 If th
