Thank you! 🙏 Composed between 1888 and 1889 and premiered in 1890, Tchaikovsky's The Sleeping Beauty is a radiant, sumptuously orchestrated ballet score from the Golden Age of Russian ballet. This concert suite in five movements (Op. 66a), assembled after the composer's death, distills the work's fairytale drama into a compact orchestral showcase. The Introduction sets the menacing music of the evil fairy Carabosse against the warm theme of the benevolent Lilac Fairy. The famous "Rose Adagio" unfolds a tender, yearning melody over shimmering harp and strings, capturing Princess Aurora's poise, while the playful Pas de caractère and the dreamy, cinematic Panorama follow. The suite closes with the sparkling Waltz from Act I, a brilliant display of sweeping melody and glittering orchestration that celebrates Aurora's birthday in a vivid portrait of enchantment, conflict, and triumph.
