The Sad Truth About BLACKPINK’s 10th Anniversary

BLACKPINK's 10th anniversary reportedly ended in backlash and apologies, with Jisoo saying sorry to BLINKs after YG Entertainment's 40-fan meet and greet. For weeks, fans say the silence around such a major milestone felt deafening. There were no announced plans, no confirmed schedules, and a now-deleted fan post calling out the group reportedly reached millions of views before it disappeared. Frustration grew when YG encouraged fans to renew their Weverse memberships ahead of an anniversary that seemingly had nothing attached to it, and things escalated when long-running Korean fansites began shutting down, with major international accounts reportedly following. When YG finally announced an official celebration just two days before the anniversary, the details made things worse. The meet and greet was limited to just 40 fans chosen by lottery, applications were reportedly open for only around nine hours, eligibility required a paid Weverse membership, and the initial notice said members would attend depending on their schedules. According to a Dispatch report, planning had allegedly been chaotic behind the scenes, with the venue and lineup still unconfirmed at the time of the announcement. All four members, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, ultimately attended the event at the National Museum of Korea, but for many fans the damage was already done. On the day itself, Jisoo posted an emotional apology on Weverse, describing it as a day full of regret, and addressed the criticism again during the group's anniversary livestream. Fans praised her honesty while questioning why she seemed to be the only member directly acknowledging the situation, and some are now openly speculating about what could happen once the group's current contracts run out.
