This Is What a Day in Bhutan Really Looks Like
About this track
Bhutan Travel Vlog - Day 3 - Breakfast With A Lama Over Misty Thimphu + The Huge Buddha Dordenma Day 3 in Bhutan turned into one of the most culturally rich days of the entire trip. I begin the morning with a rare breakfast at a hilltop temple called Wangditse Lhakhang overlooking Thimphu, sharing tea and conversation with a Bhutanese lama as the city slowly wakes up below us. It’s a peaceful, grounding start to the day and a powerful insight into Bhutan’s deep connection to spirituality. From there, I head into Thimphu to visit Choki Traditional Art School, an inspiring institution that provides free education to underprivileged Bhutanese students through traditional arts and crafts. I’m taken behind the scenes to see how Bhutanese artwork is created, meet the students, and even try several traditional techniques myself — all while learning how the school preserves Bhutan’s cultural heritage. Next, I sit down for lunch with Dr Kheng Sonam Dorji, a renowned Bhutanese traditional folk musician, at his home and recording studio. What begins as a casual lunch quickly turns into an unforgettable cultural exchange, including stories about music, life in Bhutan, and a special live performance. Before the day ends, I visit the Faculty of Traditional Medicine for a guided tour of the museum and a traditional pulse reading, offering a fascinating look into Bhutan’s holistic approach to health and wellbeing. The day concludes at one of Bhutan’s most iconic landmarks — the towering Buddha Dordenma statue, overlooking Thimphu Valley. I finish the vlog with an interview recording, reflecting on everything experienced throughout the day and what it reveals about Bhutanese culture, creativity, and spirituality. 🌏 About the Bhutan series This vlog is part of my Bhutan travel series, filmed during a 10-night, 11-day journey across the country with Breathe Bhutan, who crafted an incredible itinerary focused on culture, nature, and meaningful local experiences. 👉 Huge thanks to Breathe Bhutan for making this journey possibl
